Pro Animal Testing Essay

Animal testing has been a big deal for a long time. It has been a topic of decision that has caused a lot of controversy for as long as i can remember. Over 100 million animals have been abused, crippled, burned, or poisoned in U.S animal testing labs every year.(Animal testing 101) Even if a product is harmful to the animal it can still be sold to humans and put on market shelves for retail. Animal testing is most of the time not needed and could be done a different way. There are pros of animal testing and also cons, you have to look at both sides. to get a fair look on what goes on in the labs. Some pros seem to outweigh the cons but some cons make the pros look so minimal that people like me want to stop animal testing all together. One pro is many cures and treatments of illnesses and diseases have been discovered due to animal testing. The testing also benefits humans because if the testing is done on animals then we don't need human “guinea pigs”. Also some tests benifit the animal. The are just done for the fun of it, to mess with the animals. Some of the animals they test on are not protected but the AWA (Animal Welfare Act) so they go unnoticed and unaccounted for.(in testing) The animals not protected are; mice,birds,fish,and reptiles. The animals during the tests are force fed, deprived of food, or physically restrained. The experiments inflict unnecessary pain on the animals that are being tested. Animals are beat and treated like trash during experiments. They do not deserve this pain they do not know what is going on while it is happening, but we do. It is cruel and unjust. Humans and animals are different so testing on animals will not always work, because what harms them won’t always harm us. The drugs injected into the animals are not safe and do nothing but harm.(11
