The debate on animal testing between animal rights activists and animal welfare activists has been going on for decades. Animal testing is used for many things from medical experiments to the testing of beauty products. Have you ever had a headache and took ibuprofen to relieve it? Known somebody who uses diabetes treatment? Both ibuprofen and the treatment of diabetes were found through the use of animal research. Some people believe that animal testing should be stopped. However, it is important for animal testing to continue because both humans and animals receive many advantages through the testing. Animals are easier to test than humans and testing makes it possible for research to continue as well as provides many, many benefits for both humans and animals. …show more content…

Humans are all different and have varying traits. Finding enough people with similar weight, height, and other variables to perform a test on is very difficult. Also, humans have a longer life span which makes it hard for scientists to study the full effects of an experiment. Animals have a shorter life span which makes it easier for scientists to record and analyze data throughout the life of the animal. Animals can have similar traits to one another, making it easy to gather up a group of animals that are almost completely the same. For example, a company wants to test a hair product for safety. To use humans, they would have to find a group of people who have the same texture, color, length, and thickness of hair in order to perform the experiment. The better option would be to use white rabbits. White Rabbits would all have the same color coat, and similar textures and be almost exactly the same, giving the experiment better results.
