Have you ever gotten a flu shot? Of course you have; biomedical research made this advancement possible. For many years now, there has been a big debate whether biomedical research should test on animals or not. Animals should continue to be used in research testing, biomedical research on animals has had a lot of accomplishments with cures, tests help animals and not just humans, and also human maturity and growth is not quick enough for the experimental procedures.
As I stated above, testing helps not only the human race but also the animals being tested on. Many people think that the tests performed are for human use only, and that's not true. The tests are also for the benefit of animals. In the short story “Use of Animals in Biomedical Research,” it states “Scientists argue repeatedly that research is necessary to reduce human and animal suffering and disease.” Animal testing really helps us and animals also, it reduces suffering and diseases. Instead of walking around, always worrying about getting the flu, you don’t have to, you just get the shot.

In the book “Use of Animals in Biomedical Research” it even says “The first successful kidney transplant was performed in a dog, and the techniques used to save the lives of “blue babies,” babies with structural defects in their heart, were developed with dogs.” So that transplant saved babies lives, since they tested on a animal first, they were able to save lives. Another cure that was invented from animal testing is the polio vaccine, if someone got a polio infection they could become paralyzed, so that cure also saved many people from being paralyzed.
