Lab Rats Are the Lifesavers Lab rats are most commonly thought as actual rats rather than household animals, farm animals, or wild species. All of these animals, have been able to help researchers discover new medical products like insulin and asthma inhalers. Currently, animal testing has been banned in some countries in Africa and is in debate for the United States. The debate hasn’t moved much because both sides haven’t brought in new evidence. Scientists have started to conduct non-animal testing experiments to try for the same information as experiments with but, they just can’t seem to get it exactly. Therefore, scientists should continue to test medical products on animals because it has helped determine the safety of medical products and has also been able to help humans discover items to help the medical field.
There are many fictitious statements that people make about animals used in experiments that are not true. For instance, not

The different side effects labeled are found out with the use of animal testing. “The focus of animal testing is on the drug’s nature, chemistry, and effects (pharmacology) and on its potential damage to the body (toxicology)”(Commissioner).Scientists would not know what harm medical products could do to human bodies without the help of animal testing. Strangely enough though, the same experiments that are used without animals are similar, so it is able to help form the big picture for a disease or system (Commissioner). Why continue experiments without animals if they are not the exact same? If non-animal experiments continue to not give the same results, it would be a loss of money that could go into different research instead of just going to the cause of not using animals as test subjects. The bigger picture shouldn’t just be looking towards how to save animals it should be how to better an individuals’
