For many centuries scientists have tested human products on animals, not caring whether or not the animals lived. But that's not right, because even though animals aren't human they are still living things. And all living things deserve to live and not be tested on. So why do people test on animals, specially if the products are intended for humans? Although animals have similar body systems there are still chemicals and other things that could injure animals. When animals get tested on various things might happen. For example, animals could end up hurt or even worse, dead. A vivisection is when scientists or vets perform live surgery on animals.(animal experimentation) These surgeries, like many other tests done on animals could end up in animals dying. Testing human products on animals has been shown to hurt or injure animals, therefore it should not be allowed. Animals although vulnerable, carry diseases that can be transmitted to humans. “These doctors investigate outbreaks of human and animal diseases such as foodborne diseases, influenza, Lyme disease, rabies, and West Nile virus.”(veterinary medicine)Vets do their best to prevent and treat these …show more content…
“Mice and rats account for about 85% of the animals used. Some experiments involve amphibians, fish or insects. Scientists also use birds, cats, dogs, Guinea pigs, hamsters, monkeys and rabbits. In addition, educators use animals to teach students about anatomy, surgery, and other fields.”(animal experimentation) There are many benefits for people when they test on animals, for example they don't have to find people willing to volunteer in their studies. One thing some people consider good about testing on animals is that if an experiment were to go wrong none would get hurt. Well, nobody but the poor animals. The animals tested on are defenseless and innocent, the haven't done anything to use yet people still believe they should be tested
