What would you do if when you got out of the shower all of your hair fell out, or someone close to you was diagnosed with a rare disease or illness that was said to be untreatable? Both of these situations could have a different outcome by continuing animal testing and learning more about how to treat diseases and the effects products have on our bodies. People argue that animal testing is inhumane, even though almost all testing that occurs is completely humane and has no harmful effects to the animals. Animal used in lab testing are usually extremely well taken care of and tests done on them are almost never harmful. Utilizing animal testing has made everyday life safer for humans. Many of the products that we use each day have been tested on animals to ensure that they are safe for us humans. At this point in time the only things that are allowed to be tested on animals are called “special cosmetics” which includes things like hair regrowth, sunscreen, and antiperspirants. While things called “non-special cosmetics” are no longer aloud to be tested on animals, like makeup products shampoos, soaps, and cleaners. Other products that have been used on animals first to make sure they are safe for humans are medications. Lots of medications that are used, have been first used on animal to see what the effects of it were and if there are any drawbacks.
