Is it okay for people to use animals as science experiments? No, animals should not have to endure these brutal experiments. Even though animal testing has contributed to many life saving cures and treatments, companies should not be allowed to test products on animals because animals are very different from humans, which makes them poor test subjects. There are other alternative testing methods that do not involve animals, and are much less expensive. Naturally, companies do not want to spend money they do not have to. We need to force these companies to use the less expensive alternative methods because using animals as test subjects is cruel and inhumane, costly, and it isn’t always safe once used by humans. Animal testing in laboratories is a merciless and wicked way to test products. According to peta.org, “Each year, more than 100 …show more content…
The California Biomedical Research Association states that “nearly every medical breakthrough in the last 100 years has resulted directly from research using animals.” The genetic makeup of animals does differ from humans, but some medical breakthroughs have been contributed to by animal testing. If some treatments hadn’t been tested on animals they would not have been believed to have worked on humans. Without some animal testing some people would not have been able to make medical advancements in treating conditions (“Should”). Although many animal tested experiments have lead to medical breakthroughs animal testing is still cruel toward the animals suffering through it. The animals are having money spent on them so that they can be put through painful procedures. Universities have spent millions of dollars toward experiments performed on animals. The results of these experiments are not always reliable to then be performed on humans. People need to use less expensive alternatives rather than using animals as test
