The use of animals in clinical trials and the importance of animal’s rights tend to get overlooked way more often than they should. Although, the reason for animal testing is directly for medical advances only, is there any way of protecting the animal’s rights to where we still gain the same knowledge but more morally? Animals are used because they are so biologically similar to humans with their complex body systems and structures. Scientists gain more knowledge about systems, diseases and illnesses that affect humans by using animals as “models”. Different animals are used to be a model for specific illnesses or diseases such as cancer, polio, atherosclerosis and other diseases.

If we didn’t test animals human deaths would increase drastically. Without animals testing, new drugs would have to be tested on humans, and humans would have to participate in more surgeries, examinations, and clinical trials to discover what each individual's immune system can handle.Many people mistake scientists for performing just harmful testing but they also observe interactions of cells, tissues and organs in living animals. In the past, scientists have have said they they would rather not use animals but animals have been their only option especially if they wanted to get accurate results. Animals are the closest thing to human beings because they have an immune system, they have brains, and many of the other big organs that play a role in the determination of which medicines we take. Many people believe that medical students use animals to dissect them and experiment on them to further their knowledge in the medical field, although they do not experiment on any living animals. Collegiate students use technology such as human-patient simulators and etc. Not one US college says they force students to dissect living animals. Many graduates of universities and colleges have become doctors or surgeons without harming any animal, but little do they know that even if they did dissect a non-living animal, the animal was still killed for
