The pain and cruelty placed on animals for conducting research can and must be stopped.
Animals should not be used as test subjects in research due to the many alternatives such
as In vitro testing, micro-dosing human volunteers and the use of computer models.
Research conducted on animals has been dated as far back as 384-322 BCE. The Humane
Society Worldwide (2016) describes animal testing as procedures or tests that are
performed on living animals for the purpose of research in biology and disease, to assess
the effectiveness of developed medicinal products as well as testing the health and safety
for human use, of consumer and industry products which includes additives for food,
cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. The animals used in these tests are

Often the procedures can cause a great deal of
suffering. Most animals are killed at the end of an experiment, but some may be re-used
in subsequent experiments.” This in itself explains how drastic using animals for testing
can be and the impact that they are later sustained with. Researchers and scientists
believe that animal testing is essential for the development and advancement of the
medical field. Pro-Test standing up for science, a worldwide recognized organization
explains that animal research plays an important role in basically all medical advances in
the last century. They believe that conducting tests on animals would aid in developing
antibiotics, blood transfusions, dialysis, organ transplantation, vaccination chemotherapy,
and many other forms of medical care to human beings. As a result of such knowledge
attained there will be higher prevention and control, treatment, care and control of disease
pain and suffering. The question to be asked is ‘Should animals be used as test subject for
advancement in the medical and commercial field for human benefits?’ With
