According to the Humane Society International, animal research is the use of performing scientific experimentation on non-human species for the purpose of human understanding towards the biological structures and the medical effectiveness of various treatments (About Animal Testing, n.d). Animal research plays a vital role in ensuring that treatments developed are safe and effective for both human and animal use (Blakemore, 2008). The benefits of the extreme research procedures on animals demonstrates the critical role it plays towards medical advancement, benefiting both humans and animals, to which needless testing is avoided through regulating the expenses of the costly studies.
