Did you know that over 100 million animals are burned, paralyzed, drugged and abused every year? And only 3% of those animals survive this barbaric test we call animal testing. This is inhumane and cruel and this is why animal testing needs to be put to a stop and be illegal. It's bad/cruel and 95% of animal tested products fail in humans. It's a bad/cruel.
Animal testing is cruel, unjust, and wasteful, and it needs to stop. It is used to test cosmetics, to gain scientific knowledge, and for tests in schools. The Humane Society states that animal testing is tests performed on live animals for basic biology, medicinal, safety, or health research. Even small procedures have the capabilities to cause the animal high stress or discomfort. Some animals are used in future experiments, but most are killed soon after the tests.
Live animals aren 't necessary for testing, there are many options such as laptop software, robots, human tissue cultures, and mathematical statistics. Furthermore, the tests the animals are used for regularly come back with fake, misleading outcomes. Humans have been harmed because animals do not react the same way with certain drugs and treatments that people do. Animals additionally do not have the same genetic makeup that humans do, so testing drugs on them is useless. Finally, testing on animals has many moral problems that go with it.
Animal testing may seem wonderful and innocent but in reality it is atrocious. One compelling reason to prove animal testing is atrocious is that animal testing is unreliable and ineffective. In fact, different species of animals can react differently to the same substance. This shows that if species react differently, you can't be sure it’s safe on another different species, humans.
Do you know that animals can suffer from heart diseases, flu and even cancer? Since animals share common genes with human beings, “Chimpanzees share over 90% of their DNA with humans, and mice are 98% genetically similar to humans” by Yoav Gilad, Ph.D., associate professor of human genetics at the University of Chicago. This research makes animal testing more familiar and easy on listeners, including the fact that it has many pros which are finding cures that saved countless lives of humans and animals, and ensuring the safety of products that will be used by millions of people. Animal testing is an act done to different kinds of animals like dogs, mice, rats, kittens, birds and fish. Such act is medical since it is conducted in labs and medical schools under the supervision of specialists.
A lot of the tests do not work. Animals can have certain drugs or medicines that work for them, while these drugs or medicines will not work on humans. There is a difference in genes and anatomy that cause things not to work in either humans or animals. Some cures are different in animals than they are in humans. For example, diabetes in animals is quite different than humans.
This is mainly because of how badly the animals are treated. Many animals that are being tested on suffer cruel and inhumane conditions. There are strict regulations for animal testing that deal with housing, feeding, animal comfort and health, etc. Even with all these laws, it seems that animals are still suffering. The best way to counter this issue is to become even stricter with the rules.
All over the world innocent animals are locked in cold dark cages for the benefit of humans. In the US over 50 million animals are kept in labs and quite literally abused. Although animal testing may have been proven for humans in many ways its inhumane, usually ineffective, and unfair to these animals. Testing on poor helpless animals for the use of humans is cruel and inhumane. This act of abuse doesn't only occur in the US, but it happens all over the world.
Chimpanzees are one of the most commonly used animals in the lab for mainly one reason, that the share 99% of the DNA that humans have. Mice, another very common animal in testing, share 98% of the same DNA we have. Animal testing only works if the animal we are testing on is similar to humans. If the subject the scientist is experimenting on is not similar to humans, the experiment will not be conclusive if it will work on a human subject. The animals tested have the same seat of organs we have with nearly the same functioning bloodstream and nervous system.
Many animals might face death due to diseases, such as rabies, viruses, and infections; however, because of the tests on animals that that is not happening. Many animals like pets and others are living longer and healthier life due to animal testing. In addition, the article “Animal Testing” states that “Animal testing has also been instrumental in saving endangered species from extinction.” That means that numerous animal might get extinct because of all the diseases that they face. Despite that testing on animals has provided vaccines that may stop animals from dispersing.
Testing on animals Animal testing often kills the animals or harms them in one way or another. Sometimes it can make them lose their hair, hearing, or go ravid. They can also lose their sense of smell, vision, and or movement in parts of their bodys. Some people say that animal testing is needed.
They feel pain (Source B), but is that really the point to stop animal testing? Animals do feel pain in a biological perspective; however, animals and humans do not think alike, feel alike, or experience alike. This proves that humans and animals are not on the same scale (Source
Animal testing is also known as animal experimentation and is a problem that is growing worse each day. It is also a problem that many people know about but choose to ignore. Well ignoring these poor animals isn’t going to help them. Every year, worldwide, it is estimated that over ten million vertebrate animals from zebra fish to non-human primates are used for animal testing.
If animals feel pain the same way humans do, why do we test on them, but reject the idea of testing on other people? The simple fact is, animal testing, no matter what it’s for, is inhumane. The case of animal testing is either overlooked or not being pushed hard enough. The controversy surrounding animal testing includes; the harming done to the animals’, supplementary forms that could/ should replace almost all animal testing, and why we shouldn’t use animals to test drugs because they differ from us genetically. Using companion animals to test our medical differences is completely absurd.
Not all tests are relevant to human health. Certain scientific tests can cause human diseases instead of having a good effect. Testing on animals for medical research is not helpful because it can give us wrong answers. Many tests done on animals can provide misleading results. Animals die or suffer every single day in laboratories without any protection from grievous test.
