Normally when we think of animal testing or animal research, we think of it as bad and that we need to stop this immediately. But what we need to think about is how animal research is actually benefiting us in multiple ways. As humans, we have the privilege of being on the top of the food chain and able to control what happens to animals because we are superior to them. Knowing this we should do whatever it takes to better the human race not thinking about what we're doing in the process. In order to ensure human safety and the well being of humans, animal testing should be enforced. Animals are used in testing because they have similar diseases to humans and perform some vital functions that are similar to humans. According to animalresearch.info dogs suffer from cancer, diabetes, cataracts, ulcers, which are all things that which humans suffer from, and that is what makes them the natural candidates for research into these disorders. From these models, researchers could find out how the immune system reacts to the disease, how the disease affects the body, and how similar they are to human diseases. If we were to stop animals from used in animal testing, then our next logical option would be test on humans which is clearly not an option. Many veterinary medicines are the same as human patients because we share many of the same diseases. We only see animal testing beneficial to humans but animals could also benefit from animal testing. According to nap.edu, vaccines, antibiotics, anesthetics, surgical procedures and other approaches developed in animals for human use are now commonly employed throughout veterinary medicine. Due to this animals get to live longer, live more comfortable, and live healthier lives as a result of animal research.
