Is Trump’s expensive parade REALLY worth it when it doesn't even have a purpose at all? President Trump wants to have a military parade in Washington to honor the armed forces and to showcase U.S. military strength. The parade would be a big mistake because it would be very expensive costing millions of dollars, it would also be taking the money away from vital programs like the pentagon's annual budget, finally there isn't really a purpose for the parade. To begin with, the military parade would be too pricey costing millions of dollars. According to the editorial board on USA, “the military parade after the Persian Gulf war cost $8 million.” This parade will most likely price more since Trump wants it big and also because of inflation. The thing is that the military parade isn't even linked to the end of a war where parades like this were according to the editorial board on the New York Times “used to regularly hold national military parades, generally to mark military victories. They took place after the Civil War, World War I and World War II. Most recently, the first President George Bush presided as 8,800 troops, with weapons, marched through Washington after the 1991 Persian Gulf war ended.” Since, the parade has nothing to do with a military victory, why would Trump want to do this? If Trump had really wanted to honor the military that would've been reasonable but, that's unlikely. And if it was truly about honoring the military, then it wouldn't have mattered on Trump if “America will “‘have to try to top’” what the president witnessed last summer in Paris during that nation’s Bastille Day”. What this is really about is Trump's yearning to do everything bigger and better than everyone else. So in conclusion the military parade doesn't have a purpose and so it shouldn’t be
