Childhood poverty affects us all at some point especially since it directly affects our future generations to come. Imagine not having access to things that you need to prosper due to you being born to a single parent household or being raised in a certain community. Imagine being given the “short end of the stick” due to things beyond your control. That’s how children who experience child poverty are presented to the hardships of life and survival. Currently 17% of our nation’s children live in poverty (CHILDREN IN POVERTY IN UNITED STATES, 2022). When ranked against other states in regard to poverty, Tennessee is the 12th state with a poverty rate of 13.6% (Poverty Rate by State, n.d., Tennessee). I want my proposal to be heard by parents and board members as well. I want everyone who can help to end child poverty to hear my proposal. This is something that we can ALL work together to end. All of the facts about child poverty are present loud and clear. We have to stand up for our future generation as parents, leaders, community members, board members, and city, state, and federal government officials as well and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Child poverty does not have a place in Tennessee. Maybe Tennessee can be the influence that other states need to motivate them to combat child poverty so that one day child poverty will no longer be a social inequality for not only my community but other communities across the country as …show more content…
Child poverty not only affects them as a child, but it can also affect them as adults. Social inequalities are thought to only affect certain types of communities, however there are over 20 different forms of social inequality, and they may affect you in ways in which you are unaware of. Even if they may not affect you now, they could affect your children or grandchildren. Child poverty would be a start because it is a key driver of social inequality (Drew, 2023, Child Poverty). We can eliminate child poverty by making sure that high poverty areas have access to any and EVERY resource needed. We can help by making sure that the children receive the same quality of education that children who are not in poverty ridden areas
