One of the most pure and enjoyable moments in people’s lives will soon be in nonexistence. Reports show that designer babies will have negative effects in today’s society. Technology has reached at a point where designer babies will be part of a non-distinctive civilization. A place with no choice, and no diversity. A huge chasm between people will be created, as parents will choose the most uncommon traits for their kids. The result will hurt the environment kids grow, as uniqueness, individuality and distinctiveness will slowly disappear.

Genetic engineered babies are still being experienced. The whole method is allowing parents to chose their kids’ traits and pick the way they want the baby to look. The ethical and social consequences will be thorough. A recent debate in New York City debated the cultural change in society. People argued that embryos should not be genetically engineered. Others did not want to allow the genetic modification of human cells when still in the womb. A big amount of people all around the world are against this technique, as they believe that each person is unique. Each individual has its own way to be distinctive. Based on researches from Harvard University, the equality between people will be lost. Parents will be going against one of the most important principles of life: being equal human beings no matter their looks, strength and intelligence. A professor of health policy and political analysis at Harvard’s Chan School, Robert Blendon believes that people are still afraid of editing the genes of unborn babies, as they are still inexperienced in that aspect.
