Should High School students be routinely tested for drug use? Drugs have been affecting kids everywhere. Now that drugs are getting out there more teens everywhere are wanting to try them. Or they get Persuaded go try something new. Now that technology is getting more advanced so are drugs, which means that there are more drugs for teens to try and get addicted to. If drug testing was in more schools I believe that it would help.
Drug testing has been proven to help teens stay focused in school and want to learn. Studies show that if students have a “clear” head then they can pay attention in class without any distractions (to a certain extent). “The chemical structure in the drugs can imitate and fool the receptors, lock on to them and alter the activity of the nerve cells. This “alteration” can result in messages going in the wrong direction, and reset the way your brain should act or react.” Your brain is still in development you reach the age 25. That gives you lots of time to ruin it by drug use.

It’s effects can last up to days even weeks. Student that smoke this drug tend to have lower grades and drop out. Heavy marijuana use in teen year has been proven to affect/lower your IQ as much as 8 points. “ A study of teens in 12th grade (16-18 years of age) who dropped out of school before graduation are more likely than their peers to be users of cigarettes, alcohol, marijuana and other illicit drugs.”
In conclusion schools should have a regular drug test for teens. For their safety and health. And to help them at least get a chance to enjoy school and or learn from
