It is no secret that a major problem with in the state of New Mexico is DWI’s. Drinking while driving is a huge felony and one may have to spend some time in jail for being charged with more than one DWI. Many people lose their lives every year due to being the drunk driver or getting in a wreck with one. Statisticbrain.com states that, on average DWI’s claim the lives of about 10,075 people annually. A minor solution to this awful problem would be to just ban alcohol from those who have too many DWI offenses. This way, the streets at night would be much safer and less lives would be lost annually. The ban could also help alcoholics stay sober and live healthier lives. The solution would consist of repeat offenders not being allowed to buy alcohol from any establishment that sells it. This would mean that something on their driver’s license would have to state something along the lines of “This person is not allowed to buy alcohol by any means necessary.” Now this isn’t to say that they still won’t obtain alcohol from other sources but it is a step in the right direction. The proposed solution would mean safer neighborhoods, happier families, and healthier people. This solution could help aid the treatment for recovering alcoholics so that they don’t have to rely on Alcoholics Anonymous meetings to get them through the day. This solution could mean a better life for someone who needs to get it on track.
