Elderly Population Driving Privilege One of the most controversial topics these days is if the elderly population should keep driving at a certain age, and if they can cause any harm. But, how do you explain this to an elderly person who wants to keep their independency, that have the necessity to feel productive doing their things, and that don’t want to feel abandoned by society. And if there is an age that they should stop driving; what is that age? Now, in my opinion, not only elderly drivers are the cause of news headlines daily, or are on the lead being the cause of fatal accidents. If we really pay attention, we might be able to see that majority of accidents are within the younger population. But, due to changes that comes with the age, elderly population are always in a higher risk. Studies have showed that people are living longer than they use to live in the past. As we age, our bodies do as well, and many skills and capabilities that are crucial to drive such as vision and hearing, starts to decline. Without vision, they are more likely to miss road signs, traffic lights, and turn signals.
