Adoption has been around for many years, but only recently the question of gay adoption has been asked. There are many foster children in the world, but not enough families or parents to take them in. There aren’t that many families who are capable or will adopt children, whether the reason of it having to do with they aren’t able to support them, they have children of their own, or they just don’t want children. There is a rising amount of open homosexual couples everywhere and most of them would love to have children, but it’s still illegal for homosexual couples to adopt children in some areas of the U.S., let alone the world. Although society view homosexuality adoption in certain parts of the United States negative and positive, society still today argues if homosexuality adoption would be the right thing to do.
The most debated part of the legalization of gay marriage surely is the idea that gays would become parents and raise children of their own. Clearly, this idea is based on the bias that gays are somewhat mentally different, so they are not fit to become parents. The thing is if a child has a homosexual parent, the people assume automatically the child will also become homosexual. The second concern is about the emotional progress of the child. The existing worries are that a child might deal with some psychological problems and mental disorders resulting in suicidal tendencies, due to being raised in a same-sex parent family (Jiřičná). The last concern is about the social problems of gays which rank among the unavoidable effects for the adopted children or that the gay parents might be more prone to abuse their adopted children.
