Marriage Equality Recently in Virginia, it has now become legal for members of the same sex to marry one another. Throughout the recent decades, states have debated about the legalization, and the majority of them have chosen to allow it while other states are continuing the argument. Gay marriage is considered to be a modern occurrence all over the world, and many individuals consider it to be a gateway for other social happenings to become accepted. Depending on the person’s belief, this may contribute to more positive or negative activities as well. Since October 9, 2014, sixteen out of 194 countries allow same-sex marriage, and as of October 21, 2014, gay marriage has been legalized in 32 U.S. states (Gay Marriage ProCon.org, 2014). These actions have caused changes of emotions depending on the viewpoints about the topic, but the overall public view has evolved. Homosexual individuals accredit the Constitution which says citizens are given the legal right to equality under the law. Does this suggest that marriage should be equal to all? The idea that marriage is between a man and a woman is the belief of religious members. Most religions do not accept same-sex marriage and support the idea that children will think gay and straight marriages are the same (Gay Marriage ProCon.org, 2014). This idea is not a proven fact
