Guns? Good or Evil?

Imagine this in your mind, it’s December 15, 2012, there are young, active children at a school. A man walks in with a gun where he mercilessly kills 20 children and 6 adults. You are most likely asking yourself “Why did this happen or how can we prevent this from happening again?” The answer is simple, we should have mandatory background checks and have mandatory gun safety training for all who purchase guns. We should have background checks, which should include mental health history and have gun safety training to decrease accidental deaths from guns, suicidal deaths, and to reduce gun violence.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports “In 1997, 2,514 children ages 0-14 were non-fatally injured by guns.” In a more recent report the CDC states “120,859 unintentional injury deaths occurred in 2010...” Training can take care of this by teaching people how to safely store their guns from kids and how to handle their weapons to prevent accidental shooting. However, many people today may question my reasoning by saying “Why do we have to go to a class its pretty easy, just like the movie all you have to do is pull the trigger, why do I need to go a class?” We need to go to gun safety class because there is more things you have to account for such as how to keep a gun lock on it and remember that most bullets go in and out in the other side and keeps going. Lets say a gun was fired upward in a apartment. The shot will go through the infrastructure and injure anyone upstairs. There is many other principles that you need to know to. Therefore take gun classes that will help familiarize all of the gun parts and principles you need to know, but keep in mind though you should not take gun classes to learn how to kill, but learn how to …show more content…

The FBI (Federal Bureaucracy of Investigation) Uniform Crime Report stated “On average (between 2006-2011) 72% or 40,592 people used handguns for murders.” About 40,592 people is roughly the amount of Bullhead City, Arizona in the U.S. Many who buy guns are arms traders who sell guns to gang members, murderers, psychos, terrorist, robbers, and others. Just like a familiar name L.A (Los Angeles) there are over 450 active gangs, not compared to Chicago's enormous 68,000 gangs or more. Background checks can make sure he doesn’t have any criminal activity. However again readers you may ask “Well how about those gun shows where its person to person and you can’t do background check for that, there will still be guns that potential murderers can have.” Well here’s a solution to solve the problem. The people should sell the guns to a business that can check for background checks. It’s a win, win situation, you make money off the sale and feel safe knowing that they won’t sell a gun to a prisoner due to background
