The relationship between owning guns and crime might not be that strong, for example Brazil, has approximately 1/14th of the number of weapons per person that the United States has, but for some reason it has a lot more murders. Meaning that having strict gun laws could make a difference in our violence problem, but it will deffinately no solve the whole problem.
Another recommendation to reduce violent crime could be, Decriminalize drug use, not meaning to legalizing drugs, but for people who sell illigal substances like cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine would still go too jailed. But the people who consume the drugs wouldn’t getting arrested. I believe that instead of been arrested they should be forced to have some type medical treatment and to treat their drug addiction they should have some counseling to help them with the habit. This approached is actually used by the Portuguese government. Prisoners have a very difficult time getting a job after they are released from prison. This guides them back to a life of criminal activity. Including that being in prison establishes many types of the unpleasant social bonds. On the other hand the only social contact they have is made up of criminals. Some people view this as a normal punishment for a crime. But prison’s ability to deter crime is uncertain at best. The first time criminals go to prison they can’t even think about what spending years in prison is like. Research shows that for career criminals, going back to prison isn’t that intimidating
