Gun control What is gun control? Gun control can be defined in many different ways, it can be defined as the types of guns that can be sold and bought, it can also be defined as who may sell and have possession over them, as well as where and how they are purchased. Gun control is a very controversial debate among congress, they have debated over it for decades. They have also debated over “background checks on buyers, laws regulating who can carry weapons in public, and the kinds of guns and gun accessories available for purchase” (Patricia Smith). We have had laws that ban certain types of guns, there has been many massacres because of background checks not being done correctly or not being done at all, and maybe involving technology in guns might help reduce the wrong usage of guns. In the past and even now there has been laws that prevent the selling and buying of certain types of guns. In 1993 The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, was passed by congress, which required licensed gun dealers to do background checks on buyers (Junior scholastic). There is something called smart guns which are locks guns to the usage of other people other than the owner.
