Immigration is generally known as migrating from one country to another. Many people choose to move to other countries in search of a better future for themselves and their families, trying to find favorable employment opportunities, social welfare etc. Almost every country of the world accepts immigrants coming from abroad, the United States taking the first place in this statistics. While hundreds of immigrants enter the country on a legal basis, millions either cross the border illegally or reside in a country without proper documents.

They are in search of freedom, in search of the American Dream that has through the centuries driven so many immigrants to the U.S. To them, the U.S. is supposed to be a heaven for the tired and the poor. As the plaque on the Statue of Liberty states, the United States is asking the world to “Give me your tired, your poor, / Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”. I deeply sympathize with the illegal immigrants most of whom are honest, hard-working people. Turning illegal immigration into legal would only become possible if the United States issued permanent resident visas to immigrants from developing countries such as Mexico. If the procedure of becoming a legal resident was simplified, many people could find well-paid jobs and support themselves. So far, even a graduate of an Ivy League university finds it difficult to get a permanent residency in the United States, to say nothing of uneducated laborers. So to help the country combat illegal immigration amendments should be introduced into the Constitution and laws on the status of illegal immigrants are to be thoroughly revised and
