Ineffective Animal Testing Majority of animals have their fate decided at birth. Animal testing is questionable to the reassurance of absolute safety. Animals and humans react differently to types of drugs and chemicals. Cats, dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, birds, etc. are the type of animals being manipulated. Animal testing has alternatives that help economically and effectively. Why is an innocent life worth human products? How is ineffective animal testing valuable to safety? Animal testing is unethical due to advance technology. Animal testing is unnecessary for human products. In the United States, there are an estimated “26 million animals [that] are used every year” with poor conditions and daily trauma (ProCon, 1). Testing animals is not reasonable because of modern technology. For example, “cell-based methods, next-generation sequencing and ‘omics technologies and computational modelling techniques” assert to the extinct of animal testing (Burden, Natalie, Fiona Sewell, and Kathryn Chapman, 2). The amount of animals lives lost are not justified due to new alternatives. Human products should not be tested on animals because of genetic differences. Humans are animals. But are animals human? Humans are known to segregate animal and …show more content…
Close genetic animals are heavily regulated to be experimented on. A sleeping pill called “thalidomide, which caused 10,000 babies to be born with severe deformities” happened to be tested and approved for distribution (ProCon, 3). Animal testing does not ensure safety for humans. Animal testing consists of “63 alternative test methods [that] have now been accepted by regulatory authorities” stating the solution of ending animal testing (Stokes, 2). The continuation of animal testing could be harmful to advancements in science. Animals do not need to die for human
