The use of medical marijuana has been widely disputed for most of the 21st century. Marijuana has been cultivated and used since before the Egyptian pyramids were built! Currently, only 23 states allow some usage of marijuana for medical purposes out of our current 50 states. Medical marijuana can be used to ease several different ailments such as HIV/AIDS, various cancers, and even seizures. Keep in mind, marijuana used for these purposes is carefully grown and distributed by professionals and much safer than the street versions.
Currently, marijuana is still classified as a “schedule-one drug”, meaning very few doctors have the ability to prescribe it. Even cocaine is far less restricted than marijuana! Marijuana has not been known to have caused a single overdose, whereas cocaine has caused several health problems such as lockjaw. Even legal substances such as tobacco and alcohol have managed to cause more problems than marijuana has. In one study by “The Huffington Post”, marijuana was compared to drugs such as heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine, and marijuana was found to be the least deadly by far.
