Today, marijuana is still illegal and considered a gateway drug by most Americans. A handful of Americans do not realize how society would benefit from legalizing Marijuana and tend to jump to the conclusion of the dangerous potentials this change may have. We are a country filled with backbreaking labor, which is why most of our workers suffer from some sort of pain. We can agree that each individual should have access to whatever they might need to help them cope with pain; whether its using man made painkillers that are packaged or a natural painkiller, such as marijuana. Instead of popping a nice cold beer to relax after a rough day, others may want to just smoke in order to obtain the same relief. However, the use of an illegal substance may harm one’s security of keeping their job. Despite whether you are for or against legalization and decriminalization of Marijuana, both sides agree that Marijuana should not be in the hands of our youth nor should it be easily accessible for them. They say that legalization would lead to greater drug use, especially with teenagers, and there will be no efficient way to regulate this drug. Furthermore, this will cause a new type of drug abuse, which is similar to that of tobacco and alcohol. There are already enough substance abuse problems and there is no reason to add a new product into the mix. Some also say, that drugs such as cannabis lead to an increase in both crime, and violence. With that in mind, many doubt that marijuana will boost tax revenue in California but make California to become poorer than we are already
