Marijuana is an illegal drug that is commonly used in many parts of the world. It is a blend of desiccated leaves, flowers, seeds and stems of the hemp plant. Typically, marijuana is smoked to provide a calm or euphoric state but recently, people have been eating the substance to produce a slighter but prolonged high. Surveys conducted in 2007 in the US prove that 14.4 million people had smoked marijuana in the past month. Marijuana most certainly should not be legalised because it is highly addictive, can cause significant damage to health, and has the status of a gateway drug.
