Marijuana has of course been around for thousands of years, starting with China. At that time they used marijuana for “medical purposes”, but however they used it for pain and/or religious rituals. Then stated by Blaszczak-Boxe in the 20th century the United States had acquired the drug from Mexico’s immigrants coming into our country. In the 1930’s is when marijuana was illegal in all states. Now of lately it has become one of the most debatable topics in the U.S. Marijuana is something that has strong cons to it such as things as small as driving while under influence of drugs, but then things as big as people selling the product illegally. Many people agree that it is good for medical purposes. As humans, we are caregivers, and we have to care for each other. Which is why they believe marijuana should be legal for this purpose. However like every good thing that happens someone has to abuse his or her privilege. For example Colorado is one of the states that has legalized marijuana. According to Healy in Colorado you can buy marijuana, but police have had a 61 percent increase in seizures of marijuana over in neighboring states. This means that people are getting friends or themselves to buy legal marijuana and then selling it out of state to people who can not buy weed legally (Healy). Overall people who have prescriptions for medical marijuana are buying weed and selling it to their friends out of state. It is not just the fact that people are taking it out of state. It is even happening in the state. According to Healy a Grandmother who has a prescription for her medical purposes had no idea what her grandson was doing with her marijuana. A fourth grader had taken his grandmother’s marijuana to school and started selling it out to three of his friends. Which one of the young boy’s friends had returned the favor and gave him some marijuana edibles he had stolen from his grandmother who had a prescription as well
