Persuasive Essay On Refugees In America

1391 Words6 Pages

Over 300,000 refugees are waiting at the borders of our country waiting to be accepted into our country. My question is why. Why would our great country want to weaken ourselves by letting illnesses and terrorism into our country, especially when they did not help us in the past? The United States should not accept refugees because of many reasons including terrorism, stealing jobs from U.S citizens and bringing sickness and unknown illnesses into our country. Hundreds and hundreds of terrorist attacks have occurred in our country the only blameable menace are us letting in refugees in. Thousands of refugees are working immediately, and illnesses are spreading to Americans in our country as soon as these refugees enter our country. Knowing …show more content…

Lots of people are trying or get into our country and letting them all in could cause us a lot of these problems to be introduced. “By early 1939, more than 300,000 people were on the waiting list to receive a visa to the United States, Breitman wrote.” Based on this evidence that lots of refugees are being let into our country and most of them are coming for new jobs and opportunity. Making money is going to be the number one priority of most of these refugees. Some of the jobs these refugees will take are jobs Americans don't prefer to do (lower paying jobs) but the rest are jobs that are being taken from Americans Lots of people are trying and to get right into the workforce once they get into the united states.”.I noticed that In the past 12 months, Reeves said, 598 refugees have entered the Idaho workforce, 364 in Boise, 234 in Twin Falls.” This shows me that the refugees entering our country are joining the workforce and trying to work for money as soon as possible. This tells us that these jobs in the Idaho workforce, the 598 refugees that have entered there could have been jobs for US citizens, and the 234 in Twin Falls could also have been American citizens. I do like to acknowledge the fact that some American citizens will not want to work in this area. But a percentage of them would want these jobs and it could be taken away because of these refugees. “We are paying a lot for these refugees to …show more content…

A good percent of the diseases that these Syrian refugees carry could be infectious or unknown. “Data from a Syrian refugee camp in Iraq from 2013 confirms this and shows that although 89 percent of doctor visits can be attributed to communicable diseases, those include minor and easy-to-treat conditions such as ear and eye infections, skin infections, diarrhea and infections of the respiratory tract (62.9%).” This tells us that most of the diseases that refugees have in these camps are common diseases. We tend to forget the last 11% that are diseases that could be spread to Americans when these refugees come into our country. If there is any chance that sicknesses and illnesses are coming into our country and making Americans sick they should be avoided. “Refugees carry HIV and infections that could spread to our Americans. Although 35 percent of new HIV infections are attributed to migrants, there is increasing evidence that it is acquired after arrival to Europe.” This tells us that a good amount of HIV infections are given by migrants from other countries. They may acquire HIV after arrival to Europe but I think that these HIV infections are only being discovered once they arrived in Europe and these migrants had them before their arrival. Certainly, it could be said that refugees should be let in because it's our humanitarian responsibility, but in the past, they didn't follow through on that
