Allowing refugees into the United States will eventually put citizens at risk of entering an economic depression. Many come to the United States to try to start a new life, but once they arrive our country deals with nothing but an increase in crime rates, poverty, and terrorist attacks. In 2016, 43.1 million citizens were living in poverty. In 1980 when the refugee law was passed we already had 3.5 million citizens in poverty. Since the United States passed the refugee law the poverty level has increased drastically. You may be asking yourself why are so many people against refugees living in the United States? Some refugees create a heavy burden in low income communities. Refugees lack multiple resources which puts them at a disadvantage. If you know the history of refugees, many know that most of them do not speak English. Having refugees in the United States could possibly put our country at an economic depression. Some say they are helping build our economy by taking hard labor jobs that others are too lazy to do. Which is true, but if you look at it from a different angle the only reason why refugees are getting these hard labor jobs is because owners are paying them less than what an American citizen is willing to work for. The refugees are willing to make minimum wage because it is difficult for them to find other jobs due to their language barrier. There is also a debate on how refugees are here to seek better education. Many refugees are not attending school; most of them are trying to find hard labor jobs to help provide for their families. Only about 2.9 million refugees are enrolled in primary and secondary education schools as of 2016. 3.5 million of refugees are currently not attending school at all, so there is no way people can debate about refugees being solely devoted to education once they arrive in the United
