Second Hand Smoking One family. One disease. But many affected. Smoking not only affects those who did it but also the people around them, especially infants. There is about 70 chemicals in cigarette smoke that can cause asthma, infant death syndrome, and ear infections. Infants are more prone to be second hand smokers if their parents are smokers. I myself is a second smoker, my parents have smoked ever since I could remember. Smoking should be banned in all of America. When I was smaller I would frequently get ear infections. My grandpas were secondhand smokers and later on became smokers themselves. They later on passed away due to a heart attack. First of all, them being exposed as little kids to smoke already gave them a high chance of growing up with heart diseases. In Centers for Disease Control and Prevention assert, “Breathing secondhand smoke interferes with the normal functioning of the heart, blood, and vascular systems in ways that increase the risk of having a heart attack.” So obviously if they were exposed at such a young age they were their heart attacks were prone to happen. Sadly, I never got to meet my granddads, if it weren’t for smoke/smoking I would still have them here today. They are the kids of the future and their lives are being put at risk. In Centers for Disease Control and Prevention state, “… they get more bronchitis and pneumonia.” Meaning that children who are raised by smokers rend to get more sick frequently. In some cases it gets very severe and the children might be at risk of death. Parents could be so careless/imprudent and be so naïve that they do not even know what they are doing to their children. Therefore smoking should be banned, it will most likely put ones child at risk. Children are the future. Children are the ones we should take care of the most. Children are the ones that will change the world in order for it to be a better place. Although second hand smoking can be harmful, there is some good that can come out of it. Fore say, it can may relax a few. Therefore, smoking should be banned because it causes second hand smoking which can lead to many diseases.
