Marijuana has a negative impact on people’s lives. Smoking marijuana is not something you do for fun, but something dangerous and a life risk. Smoking marijuana has so many side effects that if it becomes legal that there will be more issues that arise. Some of the issues that I will be talking about in this essay are respiratory diseases, risk of death or injury from motor vehicle collisions and problems with healthy development from high levels of use by youth. There are many health issues that derive from marijuana. One of the most common type of respiratory disease from marijuana is lung cancer. According to canceresearchuk.org roughly, ¾ people that smoke marijuana are likely to get lung cancer which is an extremely high percentage of people. Considering that 40% of Canadians have used pot once in their lifetimes, and 10% have used pot in the past year. 75% of the 50% of the population have a chance or already have gotten lung cancer. The reasons why it affects your vision is that when you are under the influence, your judgment, motor coordination, and ability to concentrate are impaired as well as, a slow reaction time.
