Why do some voters choose not to vote? Less than half of eligible voters voted during the 2014-midterm elections. Voting is a persons voice; it is the voter’s opportunity to be heard on issues like border security, gun control, tax reform, as well as healthcare. Americans say it feels as if their voice has no weight. Voting allows Americans show political support for the candidates that have political views similar to theirs. Voting allows the voter the power to initiate change within the system. Voting allows your voice to be heard!

While 49% of voters trust Trump with the economy, 52% trusted Hillary with foreign policy (Schwartz, 2016). What won the vote in 2016 for Trump was 52% of voters wanted a republican supreme court.
How does my vote count? Look at Wisconsin; this state has been predominantly democratic. Trump won the state with whopping victory upset over Hillary (Schwartz, 2016). According to Schwartz, (2016) Trump even beat Mitt Romney in when won Wisconsin in 2012. One of the main concerns in Wisconsin is the economy; foreign trade takes jobs from Wisconsin. There fore 50% of the voters, vote for Trump, what pushed him into the lead? Someone used their voice, because their candidate had similar beliefs. The mid-term elections in Pennsylvania demonstrate this clearly. Connor Lamb won the election by 1,000 votes. Conner Lamb ran as a Democrat, though his base was republican views. This complimented the voters in his district. It only took 1,000 votes to beat his opponent. This was using the voter’s voice. Trump won the election because he campaigned on the issues that Americans wanted to hear, what Americans cared about. By doing so he won the election. Because people voted, the United States spoke out for what they believed in.
