Year round school is a controversial subject that leaves both teachers and students shaking from fear. However, is year round school really all that bad? Year round school offers so many opportunities for both a successful education system and an opportunity for students to make more out of school. According to the U.S. News Idaho is currently ranked 30th in education. Which lands Idaho on the lower end of the spectrum regarding the 50 U.S. states. We are currently in an outdated school system. Idaho should make a transition and follow in the steps of countries that rank highest in education by transitioning to year round school. There has been countless arguments on the internet about the “Pro’s and Con’s” of the transition. A few of the major or most common pro’s are that it shortens breaks so students don't have as much memory loss from such a long break. There is also an opportunity to save money with increasing the number of students in a school by putting them through a rotation; that would not just help education but can also help all year round sports. Sports will become a more competitive market and bring in larger talent pools. Year round school will fix that along with helping parents because they don't have to be worried about looking after their children for a long period of time. Taking up this time by distributing it across the year and putting kids in school. There is a certain understanding when it comes to worry of transitioning and possibly losing a summer break. I do not know how many times as a student the summer break made it so hard to remember simple school subjects.
