Everyday, animals are shocked, poisoned, and killed not only by animal abusers, but also by vivisectors, which are people that perform experiments on animals. Animal testing is cruel, pointless, and completely wrong. If the tests that were performed on animals were performed outside of a factory, the person doing the experiment would be arrested for animal abuse, yet they don't seem to think it is wrong. Animal abuse is a felony, and people are doing it every day with no qualms about torturing animals for their own personal gain. Not only that, but only about 25 new medicines are released each year, which is absolutely nothing compared to the amount of medicines they test and the amount of animals they test upon, and that creates a pointless waste of innocent lives. Approximately 115 million animals are tested on yearly for new medicines, yet only about 25 new medicines are approved each year by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, most of them being for rare diseases, according to Cruelty Free International. To summarize, 115 million animals are tormented to create 25 medicines that most people won't use. Despite this being highly unnecessary, illogical, and cruel, it is done with good intention. People need medicine to survive, heal, and improve physical and mental health. Many would argue that animal testing is important, and that it is better to do tests on animals than to people. While it may be true that people are more important, there are other alternatives. Some alternatives include growing human cells in labs, which can be done with just about any cell, human tissue donations, computer models, and volunteer microdosing, which is examining how a miniscule dose affects the body. These alternatives are much safer, much more reliable, and not to mention, much more
