1) Philosopher Kantian ethics; According philosopher Immanuel Kant (1724-1804), statement that opposed “utilitarianism” believed that certain types of action like this including murder, “theft”, and “lying” is absolutely prohibited and no moral austerity to break the given law even in the cases where the action would bring about happiness the alternative. This article on ethics was really interesting and a dilemma that is prevalent within criminal justice. In the article Dr. Steven Davis recognized that students cheating in high school increased by 20% in the 1940 to 75% today. Davis stated, "If students lack ethics in high school and college, then there should be little surprise that they lack ethics in their careers. (2008). " This observation by Davis holds some value, because individuals that is willing to cheat to get ahead, definitely has no problem crossing ethical lines, because in their mind the wrong is acceptable, just as it was when they cheated.

The ethical standards are created to take up ethical concerns in practice and to offer guidelines for establishing what behavior is ethically acceptable or unacceptable behavior is. There is no definite answer to this question and the different definitions given by Singer, McKibben, and Kingsolver goes to show the complexity of the issue at hand. There is no universal right or wrong answer because the only answer that exists is the one we think is best to give. Ethical is an ambiguous term and when it comes down to answering a question as big as the one mentioned, the answers will always vary based on our own moral principles and biases. The two social psychology concepts I learned in this unit are self-fulfilling prophecy and groupthink. what I learned about self-fulfilling prophecy is that expectation about personality. stereotypes play apart like attractive people who are popular individuals that make them sociable. If I have a stereotype of being friendly, and many people are also having the positive behavior then I would become an even friendlier person. I learned that groupthink is a group of strong members.

The relationship between critical thinking and ethics Critical thinking is a way of thinking it is the process of analyzing, applying, and evaluating information with problem solving abilities. Critical thinking greatly improves a person’s thinking. This is the process that will determine whether the outcome of a problem is right or wrong. The critical thinking process is the mindset to make effective decisions based upon verified and truthful information. The steps to critical thinking are remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating and creating.
As per the reading suggested by the instructor about the philosophical idea of Consequentialism (Utilitarianism) given by Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill and the other concept which is given by Immanuel Kant in the critics of Utilitarianism theory which is called Deontological Ethics. The reading given made understand about all these two concept and their possible application in the policy or law making like the universal law. Utilitarianism:- this is the concept used by Jeremy Bentham (1748-1832) and the John Stuart Mill (1806-1873). The core idea of this theory is the results comes from the action taken by the group of people or the individual. According to theory the outcomes will be judged weather the action was morally right or wrong.

While utilitarian ethics focuses on producing the greatest happiness for the greatest number, deontological ethics focuses on what makes us worthy of happiness. For Kant, as for the Stocis and other who emphasize duty, we are worthy of happiness only when we do our duty. As Kant explained, morality “is not properly the doctrine of how we are to make ourselves happy but of how we are to become worthy of happiness.” For Kant, morality is not a “doctrine of happiness” or set of instructions on how to become happy. Rather, morality is the “rational condition of happiness”
• Ethical Theories An ethical theory is a decision model .These theories depicts the viewpoints from which people seek guidance as they make decisions. Each theory highlights different points, different decision making style or a decision rule. Ethical theories are based on individual’s ethical ideology these theories allow a person to find an answer to an issue, to make a morally right decision or to justify a decision.
Ethics in education are crucial as it sets the standards of what is acceptable and what is not. It has been given a lot of significance over the years and this is why it has been included in the subject courses for students to understand ethics. In education, ethics is applicable on both teachers as well as students. While as teachers it is our duty to make students aware about these ethics in our virtues or moral education classes, at the same time, the school administrators with ministry of education ensures that we as teachers familiarise with ethics which are relevant to our profession. As ethical teachers, we play a very vital role in students’ life, by not just imparting knowledge but also helping in the development of a student’s personality.
