This Poem is very powerful. To me the tone of this poem is very resentful and angry. The author of this poem is obviously writing about how america is not living up to how it should be and how it is said to be. This poem represents many people and ethnicities who have come to America with hopes and dreams, but being put down. Langston Hughes also states the economic differences in our nation. He points out the fact that the poorer get poorer and the richer just get richer since there is no equal opportunity, which I personally agree with.
