Due to the harsh and evil way the monogamous language makes Polyamory look, caused polyamorist to create their own language, to describe their own definition of “love.” Polyamorous people feel stuck by the monogamous language, “The identities, relationship practices, and emotions of polyamorous people are not easily described through the dominant language of monogamy” (Ritchie). The words that monogamous people use to describe polyamorous people and their actions are infidelity, adultery, cheating, among others. The truth is that polyamorous people are not committing any of these wrongful actions, and these words are implying that their lifestyle is bad. “There aren’t words for how we feel or what we do so we have to make them up” (Ritchie). …show more content…

The language people grew up with is what makes them understand the different types of sexual identities, which is one of the main reasons what monogamist are so against Polyamory. The main focus for the new language created by polyamorist is acceptance of their lifestyle by the monogamous society. With the new language they hope that the society will view their relationships as positive and understand that monogamy is not the only type of relationship where people can demonstrate true love. The new vocabulary that polyamorist have made is to make their lifestyle make sense and allowed them to form their own social identity, which liberate them from the current societal norm that the current society
