Conspiracies theories are a trending topic in this generation. People have come up with the most outrageous and unthinkable theories, that others believe. While most are nowhere near being true, there are some that could be true. Popular conspiracy theories today are the moon landing being a hoax, JFK assassination and Marilyn Monroe. As World War II came to an end, the two powerhouses that ended the war, the United States and the Soviet Union, would soon develop their own conflicts. They were allies during the war, but after, they both wanted to be the strongest country in the world. These growing tensions brought them into the Cold War in 1947. With the United States being the leading power in nuclear war, the Soviet Union wanted to do something bigger, but America had the same goal. They wanted to be the first to put a man on the moon, thus creating the Space Race. The U.S was always a step behind the Soviets in this race. John F. Kennedy then made the statement that America would be the first to put a man on the moon by the end of the year (History.com). After this claim, NASA’s budget was increased to over 500 percent to achieve this big American goal (History.com). The topic of the moon landing being a hoax has been discussed for many years. Conspiracy theorists find proof to show it was faked, but it would soon be “debunked” by NASA. Some still don't believe the moon landing could be faked because the technology to fake the landing would be harder to create than actually sending man to the moon (Space Center). While this may be true, evidence from the moon landing does have flaws. In space, there is only one light source, the sun, so it would make sense for all the shadows to be parallel, but in some photos, shadows intersect.
