Portfolio: The Final Drafts Of My Writing

Within this portfolio are the final drafts of the writings I worked on this semester in English 110. I worked on a memoir, informal and formal letter plus reflective essay, and a portfolio. When writing these pieces, I have learned a lot of good information that will be useful in the future. My writing has improved since the beginning of the semester. I always found it hard to start a paper, but throughout the semester I learned to write a few things about my topic each day until I had a great idea of what to write. This has helped me not only with my writing but also with my time management. I would turn my first draft in and take all the feedback from my classmates and teacher. I took advantage of this feedback and viewed it to become a better writer. The first big paper that we wrote was the memoir. This writing helped me learn more about how to put emotion into my writing. Before writing this paper, I didn’t know how to tie in emotion into my writing. This thought me that putting in the descriptive text of an emotional time really ties in with the reader and gets their attention. I took advantage of learning how to write letters because I rarely write letters and will have too someday. The informal letter was fun writing and it was fairly easy to come up with topics to write down. I tried to add more details and information in my informal letter to my grandma in my second draft. I learned a lot when writing my formal letter and reflection essay. In my first draft, I was very broad and not as professional as I should have been. I took the feedback from my professor and made it more professional and made my point clear by deleting the talk about my dream to be in their program and adding more of the reasons why I am a good candidate for the program. This letter is a good start for when I apply to the OT program one
