What are the real numbers regarding households in poverty in the United States and what is the best way to help those people and families out of poverty so they can stay out? Should creating good paying job while upgrading our infrastructure be part of the plan to reduce poverty? 7. After I have wrestled with the ideas in these two texts, what are my current views on this issue.
What do most individuals think of when they heard the word “poverty”? Some may imagine a person panhandling on the side of the road. Others may picture a family or group of people making an abandoned alleyway a place to call home. Poverty is affecting billions of people around our world and the number is growing with each day. Many people think they can avoid the effects of poverty, but it is something that affects all of our daily lives. Many people see poverty as a person who lacks money, although this is true poverty is caused by many more things than being without money. Just the fact that one in two children live in poverty can help people see clearly the impact it has on our world. Poverty truly does influence the type of care and treatment a person will receive when they need it.
One way we can help is, the state legislature can take actions to help struggling families by investing in early intervention and child hood programs such as home visits, enacts a refundable state earned income tax credit and by making college more affordable says “ Ted Boettner”. In the last year, the legislature has taken few steps in helping families trying to reduce poverty. They should want to protect the children and give them a good environment and keep them off the streets but they lack the need to care enough. Other ways to stop poverty among our youth is trying to keep them in school.
Poverty—this is not a new word for us, in fact, it is has been part of our lives even before. Every country is experiencing it thus, until now no solution has been acted upon this phenomenon crisis. The documentary entitled "End of poverty" does not only enlighten us about how people suffers and seek for jobs for their own necessities yet it also enlighten us how they seek for justice because of the corrupted people who gets their land. The first portion of the documentary talked about how poverty and colonialism effected poverty today simultaneously.
In our society, many of our countries have been able to help aid other countries for their well-being. In our eyes, we see that as a good thing because we have this ability to sustain ourselves by helping others in need. At a political international point, it actually just proves that we as a country (the USA) want to help aid other countries but only for our own benefit. It is only beneficial because it’ll help our morality, have some use of the poor country’s resource, or have some negotiation. Throughout history, as well many of the richer countries (especially with the majority of the population being white) they feel as though they have a responsibility to take care of the country’s that they have colonized before or even ruined.
Today, as we find ourselves in the twenty first century, our problem with poverty still exists and appears to be getting worse. Cities are continuing to grow to max capacities, hunger rings clear throughout the world, natural resources are depleted everyday due to over use, causing a degradation of our environment and billions of individuals do not claim Yahweh as their God. These are the occurrences on this planet on an everyday day cycle. There appears to be more focus on selfishness and the everyday rather than living in community with others. Plain and simple, poverty is serious and we must get to the root of it.
More than 45 million Americans are currently living in poverty – that may seem like much, but compared to what it has been previously, it is actually an active reduction. Without food stamps, one of the welfare programs, it is estimated that 8 million more Americans citizens would be affected by poverty. Hearing from the media almost constantly that the poverty rate has been reduced in America, and that the American citizens have gotten better conditions, I was once again looking forward to experiencing it in real life. Much to my annoyance, I was once again disappointed.

With nations spending huge on arms and forces, the ill-effects of spending huge and sending huge number of soldiers was leading to poverty.

Poverty is one of the most horrific epidemics in our society today. Poverty is the state of being extremely poor. It is a very serious problem that many people suffer from today. Many issues such as illness, hunger, and bad sanitation are all causes of poverty. Statistics show that there are over 35 million Americans that live in poverty.
Poverty is one of the most painful experiences to live through, yet millions of people are living through it every day. Poverty may be thought as something “far away”, but in reality, the blanket of poverty is spread worldwide.
Poverty is the main social and economic problem that the people are facing particularly in the world (Bruton & Ketchen, 2013). As of 2013, there were about 2.47 billion people in the world living in poverty with an income of USD 2 or less a day most of them from developing or under developing countries located in African and Asian continent (Bruton & Ketchen, 2013). The population living under poverty only declined from 2.59 billion to 2.47 billion between 1981 and 2013 (Bruton & Ketchen, 2013). Poverty means the lack of income or shortage of assets; the lack of competence, confidence, disempowerment and deprivation of national currency (Singer, 2006) .Poverty may arise from low productivity of the households and they face financial constraints
Never the less, it’s ironic how in the 21st century we prize ourself for being progressive when almost half of us - over 3 billion people - can’t even conjure up what life is like beyond ‘the poverty trap’ they are in. We prize ourselves, when one out of every two children is poor. Can you imagine growing up as one of the 640 million kids whom have no adequate shelter, let alone a place to call home? Or the 400 million to whom safe drinking water is simply a figment of their imagination? Or maybe the 270 million who have no means of getting health care?
