Formulating a definition of effective teaching, Goe, Bell and Little (2008) evaluated various discussions in the recent literature as well as in policy documents, standards and reports. They concluded that effective teachers have high expectations for all students and help students learn; they contribute to positive academic, attitudinal, and social outcomes for all students; they use resources to plan and structure engaging learning opportunities; they contribute to the development of classrooms and schools that value diversity and civic-mindedness; and, they collaborate with other teachers, administrators, parents, and education professionals to ensure student success.
