“Prince Philip” A husband to one of the longest and most powerful reigning queens of all time whose title was restored and thus become know as Prince Philip. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh is a man of many accomplishments and a true hero to his country.

He was born in Corfu, Greece on 10 June 1921 and also the longest serving consort of the reigning british monarch and oldest ever male member of the British royal family. He comes from a family of four elder princess all with the royal title “Princess of Greece and Denmark”. His sister are named Cecilie, Sophie, Margarita, and Theodora. Some of the many were when after leaving Gordonstoun in 1933, Prince Philip joined the Royal Navy, graduating the next year from the Royal Naval College, Dartmount, as the best cadet in his course. At the time Philip was only thirteen years old. During the second World War, he continued to serve in the British forces. He was then commissioned as midshipman in January 1940. Starting at the age thirteen Philip was already making great achievements that no one his age would had accomplish. He was also awarded the Greek War Cross of Valour. He was then promoted to sub-lieutenant after a series of courses at Portsmouth in which he gained the top grade in four out of five sections of the qualifying examination. He was then later promoted to lieutenant followed on July 16, 1942. In October of the same year he became first lieutenant of HMS Wallace, at 21 years old one of the youngest first lieutenants in the Royal Navy. During the invasion of Sicily, in July 1943, as second in command of HMS Wallace, he saved his ship from a night bomber attack. He devised a plan to launch a raft with smoke floats that successfully distracted the bombers allowing the ship to slip away unnoticed.
