Terry Eagleton once said, “For Aristotle, goodness is a kind of prospering in the precarious affair of being human” (Eagleton). We all breathe the same air and bleed blood, so why are we treated differently? If one commits a crime, or leads up to one, they should face the consequences. This goes especially for our youth. For some, they obtain so much from our parents. For others, parents are not involved in their children’s lives. No matter what the circumstances are, one that does wrong should pay the price. Therefore, parent of bullies should not be held responsible for their child’s actions.

Although the actions and behaviors of children reflect those that are practiced at home (Gross), a majority of parents are not involved in their child’s lives, so there is not much that a child could learn from them. However, most children are capable of knowing what they are doing. In fact, in the year of 2002, about 30 percent of children were abandoned by their parents for many reasons (“Abandonment”). This means that many children do not have any parents to learn from. Regardless of the situations, a child should know the difference between rights and wrongs (“Students Shall Be Legally Accountable for Bullying”). For example, an actor from a television show, was abandoned by his father and got into a lot of trouble. His father and mother were not there to show him the way of life. For the reason of none of his parent’s being there for him, there was no one to teach him the way other than his uncle and aunt. In addition to getting into trouble more than once, he paid for his actions. He learned valuable life lessons that he could carry with him throughout his lifetime.
