I have many ambitions. I aspires to get a strong open-minded education where I can clench abstract ideas and understand the insinuations of such ideas for the complex situations. I also expect to get polished so that I can get the skills to antagonize challenging situation in work and life. I endeavors to get powerful investigative skills and well-developed historical and cultural perspective. I need to be able to inform the way people observe, understand and solve problems.
As a community focused individual, I balanced a variety of commitments including 15 hours per week with RTN, 5 hours with the Office of Sustainability, and up to 10 hours per week with Sigma Pi between Chapter meetings, committee meetings, and tutoring as part of my Head of Scholarship position. My ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities has allowed me to balance my commitments while staying committed to my coursework, as evidenced by my strong GPA. As Head of Scholarship, it is critical that I effectively communicate complex accounting and finance concepts in comprehendible terms as for many students it is the first exposure to business related material and a strong foundation is critical to the future of their business careers. I choose to be a Preprofessional Studies major because my passion lies in the medical field. My professional goal is to become a pediatric doctor and possibly working in research for children 's illnesses, such as diabetes. I first gained an interest in the medical field during my senior year of high school. My prior foundation in the sciences was weak and its appeal to me was low, but my anatomy and physiology class changed my attitude. I had a curiosity to the inner workings of the body and this class explored that in addition to research on anatomy and illnesses.
Professionalism whether in the workplace or an academic setting can easily be deemed comparable. Both settings necessitate the adherence to a set of values. These values may be established through a formally agreed upon code of conduct as exemplified in a work or student handbook or through the informal expectations of colleagues, clients, professors, or peers. The fundamental standards of professionalism include having respect for yourself, your colleagues, the material you are learning and your professors. There are many characteristics that contribute to being professional.
Most parents put their daughters in cheerleading because of the uniform and they think it will be a “cute” memory; however, that was not the case for me. I instantly fell in love with the sport, and at six it became my goal to make the varsity team my first year of high school. After telling my mom the goal I had set for myself, she enrolled in tumbling classes and signed me up for rec league cheer every season to help me learn the skills I would need when I tried out. I had waited months to try out for the high school cheer program since the original date had been postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak. I remember walking out of tryouts confident in how I performed in front of the judges.
Having always had a mathematical aptitude, most recently reflected in my GRE quantitative score of 163, I am particularly excited to be working on various techniques of mathematical sciences like mathematical modelling and statistical analysis to arrive at optimal solutions to complex problems. My name is Raksmey Houn and I am a four-year student at California State University, Los Angeles. I transferred from East Los Angeles College in the fall semester of 2016. My academic goal is to finish school with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration with the option in Accounting and a minor in Real Estate with high grades. My career goals would be to obtain the Certified Public Accountant within five years and to become a skilled and successful accountant and eventually move into management. I have a plan in a place for getting certified in the CPA after I graduate in the next year.
