Recently in healthcare, there has been a heightened awareness in the delivery of care and the errors and flaws that exist in the service of this industry. Considering the prevalence and seriousness of healthcare flaws creates a call to action for healthcare providers. Subsequently, it would take the dedication and innovation of healthcare providers to develop a safer delivery of healthcare. Thus, being a nurse creates an ideal platform for change in healthcare. However, constructing a platform requires the necessary education to be able to inflict a large magnitude of change. As a result of being in their new graduate program, there were countless presentations on the organization's mission statement. Hence, one goal on the mission statement that stood out was their Target Zero initiative. This initiative is based on the premises of eliminating preventable harm. Furthermore, analyzing this initiative, cultivated how much trust the community a healthcare provider serves puts into their healthcare system. Nonetheless, people come to their healthcare facility during their most vulnerable time, and they expect healthcare providers to deliver excellent service. For instance, at no time, does someone go into the healthcare setting thinking their healthcare providers will harm them. Undoubtedly, no healthcare provider enters into work with the intent to harm a patient or wanting to make a mistake, but these situations do occur. Indeed, by being diligent and using the most current evidence-based data and technology, we as healthcare providers can have the proper tools to provide the best care possible to all patients. Thus, hopefully eliminating preventable harm. Looking at the vast improvements that have been made based on the initiatives at Children’s Hospital Colorado, it created an eagerness to pursue a career in quality, safety and risk management. Therefore, being able to be a part of a program that would allow a career to help an abundance and possibly change the outlook and quality of care given to every patient; this would provide ultimate career satisfaction.
