Being an educator in service of social justice means that you strive to create a learning environment that promotes equality, diversity, and inclusivity. This involves acknowledging and addressing issues of systemic oppression, such as racism, sexism, ableism, and homophobia, that can exist within educational settings and beyond. School should be a safe place for children to learn regardless of their background or their caregivers’ background. As a future educator, whatever personal biases I have need to be completely removed as soon as I step into the school.

They can influence student learning by providing high-quality instruction, differentiating instruction to meet individual student needs, and creating positive relationships with students. Teaching the curriculum is only one part of being a teacher. Something that separates a good teacher from an outstanding one is an educator that can truly relate to their students and becomes genuinely interested in their hobbies and personal lives. I’ve learned so much about what the new toys and T.V shows are that the children in my school are interested in. We’ll end up getting into 30 min long conversations on what they know about a character, where he lives, what’s his weakness, ect. They are responsible for establishing policies and procedures that promote equity and inclusivity, allocating resources, and ensuring that teachers and staff have the support they need to provide high-quality instruction and care to students. Another important role of administrators is to provide ongoing professional development for staff on topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to ensure that these values are integrated into all aspects of the school's operations. Administrators should also encourage open communication and provide support for students, families, and staff when conflicts or issues arise. When educators feel comfortable bringing up issues to their admin, this in-turn creates a supportive environment which decreases teacher turnover rates. Each member of the school community has a unique role to play in shaping the educational environment and promoting student learning. When all members of the school community work collaboratively towards a common goal of providing high-quality education, students are more likely to succeed academically and personally, and schools are more likely to foster a positive and inclusive
