This semester I also learned how to word rules with right way more and how to be specific with procedures. I made a mock classroom policy about a year ago and after that lesson I made modifications to it. I got excited because it was part of our discipline 2, and I got more feedback on which I need another eye to look at for me. I took the comments and made more to policy and proud of my end product.
Before 10th grade, I had an insufficiently rigorous course load to yield a competitive GPA. After taking the most rigorous classes for a year and boosting my GPA, I have decided to help my classmates tackle the competition at my school by helping them organize their schedules and classes for future academic years. I have reached out to these classmates through class projects and tutoring sessions. So far, I have helped about five teenagers become competitive. I have also frequently volunteered at a local food pantry.
Allow me to introduce myself, I am Bryan Le, a freshman that is currently attending a charter school by the name of “Downtown College Prep”. I am currently living with my parents and two younger siblings, one brother and one sister. Over my years in a public elementary school, I had seen others being happy because of one’s help and that made me feel happy inside. I then thought of ways to help others when I stumbled upon the fact that doctors help people everyday, which seemed as a great way to help many people so that they may continue to be happy in life. As I entered Downtown College Prep, I was urged by the staff to explore my options and to set a goal in life.
I am an active member in a wide variety of activities. I am very involved in 4-H and FFA. Through these clubs, I have participated in many community service projects. I work hard in the classroom and I’m very goal driven. I have a 3.14 GPA, and I strive to do better each and every day.
The National Honors Society requires and represents four important core values: Character, Leadership, Service, and Scholarship in which I believe describes myself as a person on many levels. Of a person, their character is what makes a person unique, which I believe undoubtedly is one’s most important trait. My ultimate endeavor since attending community college has been my involvement in school, specifically with Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. As an engineering major I am limited to a diminutive amount of free time, due to the quantity and difficulty of my classes. However, this limitation and the fact that my ride to school is a two hour trip on public transportation, has not stopped me from participating in extracurricular activities. Like students with a communication disorder, many of my students would shy away from activities or tasks because of obstacles. Through these experiences, I watched my students gain the confidence to participate in activities and excel in academics to become successful individuals.
