Professionalism Report Social media has grown so much in the past years and the way people use it is so different, “it can be a double-edged sword” (2014). Now it can help you get a job or make people not even take you in consideration for a job. Companies started using it to promote themselves and get more clients, or good reviews. According to the first article I found, “employers use it to see if you would be a good image for their company” (2014). If they see anything unprofessional they will most likely put your application to the side. There is a variety of ways to use social media to your advantage. When you think of social media you think of mainly Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, but there are many more. Anything that is posted online through some website can be used or seem by your current or future employer. You want to post things that show what kind of person you are. Be positive on what you post and show your interests specially those of the future filed you plan to work in. For example, post things of how much you like your job or what you like about it. There are people that don't seem to care what they post. What they don't realize is that even though they put it on their private profiles it is still online and someone can find it. Things that can get you fired or disqualify you from a future job would be posts of partying or turning up the day before work. Also some calling in sick, but later saying they are at a party or out at the mall. Another example would be, "hate my job!! i want to tell my bosses how dumb they are and how meaningless this job is, then quit, and be happy!"
